Lot of 6 chromolithograph Christmas postcards, primarily used and postally cancelled, bearing 1¢ green Washington stamps with legible postmarks including New York and Massachusetts, dated 1908 to 1909. Publishers include Raphael Tuck & Sons and other American and European printers, with a mix of standard divided-back and earlier undivided-back formats. Subjects depicted include Santa beside childÍs bed delivering gifts; bearded Father Christmas figure with children and toys; Santa carrying children on his shoulders in winter scene; Santa emerging from large chrysanthemum flower holding gifts; robed Father Christmas walking through snowy landscape with staff; and richly dressed Santa in ornate coat carrying basket of toys. The group reflects early 20th-century Santa imagery, including both traditional American Santa Claus and European Father Christmas representations with varied costume styles and folkloric elements. Condition ranges from Good to Very Fine overall, with some cards showing corner wear, light creasing, or minor surface wear consistent with handling and postal use, including one example with edge loss. The chrysanthemum Santa, shoulder-carrying Santa scene, and ornate European-style figure are the strongest individual pieces in the grouping. (6). Sold ñAS ISî no returns accepted.
