Washington, D.C., ND (ca. 1940s). $100 Specimen Series E Savings Bond, Black print, Grover Cleveland at left, Red specimen overprint at center. AU condition with small "2" in pencil at bottom right. BEP. Series E Savings Bonds were not transferable, and had a 2.9% interest rate which compounded semiannually. The final round of Series E bonds stopped earning interest in 2010. By 1960 Series E bonds stopped collecting interest and were able to be swapped out for a Series H bond. Rare specimen.
