1850's. Proof. Early Vignettes Found on Obsolete Banknotes, Drafts, Exchanges, Stocks and Security Printed Documents. 6 different proof vignettes. Images include slaves picking cotton; slaves driving horse drawn wagons with cotton (4); and, slaves at docks loading cargo. Printers include TC&Co.; BC&Co.; DW&Co. and one that is not attributed. Titles include "On the Levee". All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila card with plate numbers at top of the card and on the india paper. All are cut down large die proofs. Some have light foxing or glue staining from mounting and 1 has internal tears but overall a choice group. Please inspect. Rare group of early vignettes. Most are unique in archive or represented by only 2 or 3 examples.
