Silver 8 Reales (“Piece of Eight”) presented in an “America’s First Silver Dollar” display holder issued by the Postal Commemorative Society with certificate of authenticity. The Spanish 8 Reales was widely used throughout the Americas and served as the monetary model for the early United States silver dollar standard. The coin is struck in silver weighing approximately 27.07 grams with a fineness of .903, giving an actual silver weight (ASW) of approximately 24.44 grams (0.785 troy oz).
