Various States, 1870-1910s. Lot of 17 Issued and Unissued United States Government and Depositary Checks representing federal fiscal operations from the late 19th to early 20th century. Includes examples marked “Depositary of the U.S.” (Louisville, KY and Denver, CO), “United States Depositary,” “Assistant Treasurer of the U.S.” (New York and Boston), House of Representatives – Sergeant at Arms, United States Senate, and First National Bank of Denver as U.S. Depositary. Several pieces feature engraved portraits, allegorical figures, U.S. seals, Capitol building vignettes, and detailed federal typography. Many retain revenue stamps, cancellation handstamps, endorsement markings, and manuscript signatures.
