Washington, D.C., 1918, $50. United States of America Complete Third Liberty Loan Gold Bond of 1928 "Short" $50 Bond was a popular issue amongst the general public when it was first issued in 1918 as well as currently with serious Bond collectors today. It has become quite a challenge to put together a "year set" of the "Short" and "Long" series bonds as the Herbstman Census only list about 20 of these "Short" Bonds known and most are not complete. Beautiful Red Inks on the front, Jefferson Vignette and engraved Treasury signatures, embossed U.S. Treasury Seal. Reverse Brown Inks with Vignette of "Screaming Eagle" similar to the Vignette on the $10 Legal Tender "Jackass" Note. Printed by the BEP.
