Washington, D.C., 1917, $50. Second Liberty Loan Converted Gold Coupon Bond of 1927-1942. This was the lowest denomination of Liberty Loan Bonds issued. At $20 per troy ounce of Gold in 1918 this was equal to 2 and 1/2 ounces of Gold. That is over $4,000.00 at today's prices. The golden color of this particular series makes it one of the most popular Liberty Loans to collect amongst both Bond and Large size type note collectors. This Bond is virtually complete, with the long series beginning at coupon number 5. Blue U.S. Treasury Seal, Treasurer engraved signatures. Embossed U.S. Treasury Seal. Brown reverse "Columbia" floating above the U.S. Capitol Building. Printed by the BEP.
