The auction will take place at the 3 WEST CLUB at 3 W. 51st Street (at Fifth Avenue), New York, NY 10019
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dec. 8th, 1814, 50 Cents, P-Unlisted, Remainder, Black on thin light gray paper, “The Original Fringe & Worsted Yarn Warehouse Lawrence”, man shearing sheep in middle with woman spinning yarn on left and children with bag of wool, multiple fonts used on the text, No S/N, PMG graded Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality), One of the more subtle things about this note is that the engraver, W. Kneass, located on 125 Market Street in Philadelphia, was named the Second Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint in 1824. This was an early example of his work and also fits in with two unique obsolete printing plates that are also being offered in this auction that were engraved by Kneass.
