January 1, 1862, James Patterson. 50 Cents, (Rothert 671-1), Issued obsolete scrip note, Dated January 1st, 1862, Black text with "Due to Bearer" over denomination in middle, also with text "In War Bonds or Confederate Notes", black border, blank back, printed on tissue type of paper, Signature at bottom right in red, S/N 22, Fine to VF condition with 2 small pieces missing from top and bottom margin and what appears to be small pin holes, but is just the way the paper was made. Rarity 7 in Rothert. Only a single $2 note from this issue was seen at auction previously 6 years ago.
