June, 1862, Coleman & Shaver. 50 Cents, (Rothert 712-2), Issued obsolete scrip note, Dated June 1862, Black text with black border, The small print near the top edge reads "Redeemed at White & Hanley's, Van Buren, and Mayers & Bro., Fort Smith, Ark." Allegorical sailor at left, Dog depicted at center bottom, Signature at bottom right, S/N 481, Fine condition with small 3/4 inch tear on the top right margin. Rarity 7 in Rothert. "J.D. Butler. print.", A $1 denomination of this design was offered in 2017. No examples of the 50 Cents denomination could be found having been at auction previously.
