Great Britain, 1993 (Overprinted Nov. 7,1994 on top), £10, P-386a Unlisted Polymer Essay banknote. Black, brown and red on m/c. The notes were miscut intentionally (at the direction of the Bank of England), with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth on the left and the seated Britania image on the right, with a small gutter between the two halves, a pink overprinted date "Nov 7 1994 - 275" is on the top margin, the back has the portrait of Charles Dickens on the left side due to the way the note was cut with the Cricket match on the right side with a gutter between them. There are no overprints or serial numbers. There are 2 moderate vertical folds in the note which keeps it a nice Choice XF to AU condition. The note is printed on DuraNote Polymer Plastic paper. It was released by the Bank of England, but only in this format where there are 2 halves of connected notes rather than an intact note in the normal form. The note was printed as part of a project from Mobil Oil for testing petroleum based hydrocarbon polymer paper for printing banknotes. The project was abandoned after the company merged with Exxon to form Exxon-Mobile. (Please be aware: We will not ship this note to England due to the nature of the item and the possibility of issues entering the country).
