Lot of 2 uncut and unissued checks from Holladay Overland Mail and Express Company, Black text printed on white paper. Fine condition with toning along margins. In 1862, Ben Holladay purchased the bankrupt Overland Mail Company and renamed it the Holladay Overland Mail and Express Company. Holladay was an American transportation businessman responsible for creating the Overland Stage to California during the height of the 1849 California Gold Rush. Ben Holladay created a stagecoach empire and he is known in history as the "Stagecoach King".
