Lot of 2 stampless letters with attached correspondence, Includes: 1843 handwritten stampless letter from the long island Bank placing an order for banknotes and steel plates from Danforth, Spencer & Hufty, VF condition with an orange stamp at back; Also includes an 1845 duplicate order form #90, of banknotes and plates to be sent to the Long Island Bank, from the office of Danforth, Spencer & Hufty (Bald has been crossed out). Danforth, Bald, Spencer & Hufty was a predecessor to the American Bank Note Company, and was formed in 1843. In 1844, it became Danforth, Spencer & Hufty. The huge American Bank Note Company was formed from an association of seven competing companies in 1858. (2)
