Orleans Territory, Concordia Parish, Louisiana and Kentucky, 1809. 2 page, handwritten legal document between John Throop, of Livingston County, Kentucky and Francis Henderson of Orleans Territory. Regards a land deed between the two men, with Henderson purchasing a tract of land along the Mississippi River from Throop for the sum of $800. The property was located on the Mississippi River about 6 miles above Natchez. The property was located at a place that used to be called "Bells Old Camp". Document outlines the terms of the deal, as well as the location of the purchased property. Includes an attached seal at back. VF condition, especially for its age. Orleans Territory was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from October 1st, 1804 until April 30th, 1812, when it was admitted to the Union as the State of Louisiana. Fascinating and unique piece of early American history that offers a glimpse into legal standards and terms at the time.
